Senior Technical Consultant – Ivory Coast

Job Description

The Senior Technical Consultant is a multi-skilled technical product expert in pre-sales activities and in deploying networks around the world. He/she develops long-term relationships with customers and prospects on a regional front and world-wide when necessary, often acting as a first line contact for product and feature related issues.

Three main elements:

Acting in a technical and commercial pre-sales role supporting the Sales team and engaging with customers to develop and close business opportunities to help customers understand our product range and enable them to maximise cost savings through efficient network design

Providing support to Customers from first contact all the way through to successful network deployment in such a way as to promote satisfaction with product and promote repeat business.

Provide a range of professional services to customers.

Significant overseas travel within Africa with occasional trips to UK.

Key Responsabilities and Tasks

· Presale support including equipment and professional services quotations, network design, proposal, detailed tender responses, presentations etc.
· Working with the Sales in UK and France to identify, develop and close business opportunities with affiliates of the account.
· Working with Sales team to identify and recommend action plans which will address new business opportunities.
· Model and present complex CAPEX and OPEX business cases to aid the sale of Point to MultiPoint to potential opportunities.
· Authoring and contribution to technical documentation and marketing collateral.
· Enhance customer relationships.
· Manage all technical activities for customer, System Integrator/VAR and integration partner accounts.
· Promote the full range of solutions to customers.
· Produce and deliver formal business proposals and presentations to clients.
· Identify key customer requirements and coordinate with Product Management and Engineering to ensure that these requirements are implemented in their solutions.
· Post Sales delivery of professional services to customers such as network planning & design, radio planning, deployment support, network optimization, on-site training, rollout project management, network health checks, NMS and network integration.
· Act as Technical Lead and manage deployment specialists on key network delivery projects.
· Coordinate 2nd and 3rd line Support in order to identify and resolve critical issues with key customer account networks.
· Plan and execute technical product demonstrations or field and lab trials at customer sites in order to place Sales in a strong position to close.
· Provide feedback to engineering regarding all aspects of product performance and design e.g. defects and enhancements etc.
· Maintain high awareness of competitor’s product features and performance in order to exploit technical advantages during RFP/RFI and trial execution.
· Maintain a detailed and current library of trial test protocols.
· Be the first to trial new products and manage new product integrations, working with test group and engineering to overcome issues and ensuring the product is fit for general availability.
· Represent the company in an official capacity as a speaker at conferences from time to time.
· Provide VCSE L1, L2 and L3 training at the company central and regional offices and on-site where appropriate.
· Advise the Training Council on Customer training requirements.
· Create bespoke training courses for key customer accounts.

Travel to customer sites around the world and to stay in country as customer needs dictate.


· Fluent in French and English

· Minimum of Bachelor degree in telecommunications, computer science or electronics or a minimum of 5 years relevant experience.
· Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status.
· Good knowledge in the fields of Telco, IP/Ethernet solutions, ideally will have a strong wireless or Microwave communications background, complemented by a good understanding of other access technologies.
· Knowledge of technical pre-sales working experience at a Vendor level within a leading telecommunication provider company, or similar Tier 1 Regional Telco in Africa.
· Good understanding on network technologies: Ethernet, IP, SDH, Sonet, ATM etc
· Knowledge of wireless cellular standards and equipment (GSM, EDGE, 3G, HSDPA).
· Commercial acumen and tender/RFP/RFI experience.
· Successful track record of building long-term relationships and in introducing innovative new products and solutions into a leading telecommunication provider company, or similar Tier 1 Regional Telco in Western Africa.
· Experience of using complex test methods and protocols in order to troubleshoot and demonstrate procduct network performance.
· Experience to work in an office/environment remote from headquarters.
· Ability to understand the customer's needs in order to design the desired solution.
· Proven ability to manage customer accounts in cooperation with Sales management at CxO and technical level.
· Have a high level of hands on product experience with the ability to work independently in difficult and stressful situations.
· Able to represent the “voice of the customer”.
· Minimum 3 years direct telecommunications and carrier network experience with a proven track record in an international telecom equipment company.
· Proven ability to partner with network integrators and System Integrators / VARs to develop new business models for customers using CBNL technology.
· Excellent collaboration skills with a wide variety of people (product management, engineering, marketing).
· Ability to show creativity and a different way of thinking.
· Must welcome challenges.
· Good oral and written communication, interpersonal skills

· Able to jump on a plane at a moment's notice, technically fluent and articulate, he or she will command respect with the customer organisation at all levels.
